DESCRIPTION
In this role, you will oversee and manage the tax compliance processes across the EMEA region, ensuring adherence to local, regional and international tax regulations. This critical role will be supported by a mix of local external tax advisors, and it will closely collaborate with the FinOps EMEA team and Group Tax to #makeithappen. You will also play a vital EMEA centric tax advisory role in exciting regional and Sinch wide initiatives such as new product launches and the Finance Transformation program.
This role will be based at our HQ in Stockholm and report to our Head of Finance Operations EMEA.
Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance Management
- Oversee and coordinate all tax compliance activities across EMEA, including corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding taxes, and other local taxes in collaboration with external advisors.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, tax financial statements, and other regulatory reports in compliance with local tax regulations.
- Lead the implementation of best practices for tax compliance, optimizing processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance rates.
- Own external tax advisor relationships with the aim of full compliance across region and effectively engage them as needed to arrive at low risk but commercially viable solutions.
Tax Reporting and Documentation
- Review tax provisions for financial reporting under IFRS/GAAP in coordination with the FinOps EMEA accounting teams.
- Maintain accurate tax records and documentation to support audits, financial statements, and regulatory inquiries.
- Oversee and improve processes for tax reporting within the company's ERP and tax reporting systems.
Audit Support and Risk Management
- Act as the main point of contact for tax authorities in the EMEA region, managing tax audits, responding to inquiries, and ensuring successful resolution of issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants on audits, risk assessment, and implementing corrective actions if needed.
- Develop and implement controls to identify and mitigate tax risks in the EMEA region.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation within the EMEA region, assess potential impacts, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
Transfer Pricing
- Support all transfer pricing requirements within the region in partnership with Group Transfer Pricing and local FinOps teams, including review and execution of local strategies and documentation across multiple jurisdictions.
Process Improvement and Technology
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the EMEA tax compliance function, leveraging technology to increase accuracy and reduce manual work.
- Support the adoption and integration of tax compliance software or ERP solutions for enhanced data accuracy and streamlined reporting.
REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant experience in tax compliance, preferably from a mix of multinational corporation and Big 4 accounting firm
- Strong technical knowledge of Swedish corporate income tax and VAT, other EMEA countries is a big plus
- Strong knowledge of IFRS tax effect accounting and standards
- Prior experience participating in ERP implementation projects is a plus, especially with regards to configuring tax-related processes, integrating compliance requirements, and optimizing tax reporting within ERP systems
- Experience with tax automation and data analytics tools
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law or Finance/Accounting
- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office programs and finance tools
- Fluency in Swedish and English
