Job Description

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization founded 80 years ago to respond to urgent humanitarian needs. It partners with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive. Programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening, and refugee & immigrant services. The Finance Specialist will accurately and responsibly handle all financial transactions to ensure the financial stability of the Austin office and assist the resettlement team with client finances.
Must have:
  • Tabulate and process financial contributions
  • Deposit cash and checks to local bank account
  • Review check request coding and supporting documents for adequate documentation and authorization
  • Cut checks for all operations, including refugee assistance checks, staff reimbursement, and bill payments
  • Maintain detailed financial documentation both digital, hard copy and at year-end, archives account payable files and creates new set of files based on records retention policy
  • Verifying checks to be cashed out as needed
  • Reconcile and allocate Corporate credit card transactions
  • Maintain W-9 records for qualifying vendors and help at the end of each year with the process of issuing 1099s to the qualifying vendors
  • Assist in fiscal year end activities as needed
  • Assist office coordinator in managing office resources
  • Assists the resettlement team with client finances by producing weekly financial expenditure reports for refugee cases and at the request of resettlement team
  • Perform refugee cases maintenance as per resettlement team request

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of

  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with vendor invoices, check requests, and experience with a computerized accounts payable system.
  • Fluent in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in finance management preferred.
  • Experience in resource and grant management systems preferred.
  • Experience handling cash and working with Personally Identifiable Information (PII) preferred.
