The Inventory Manager is responsible for managing stock levels and shelf-life of finished products to meet service level targets at optimized costs. Key responsibilities include computing and ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and stock parameters within distribution centers, providing demand signals to manufacturing sites, proposing and validating distribution strategies, anticipating and managing risks related to scrap and backorders, and planning for initial stock-build and final stock-draw during launches and phase-outs. They also maintain MRP views and ensure data quality. This role requires the ability to make decisions, anticipate potential issues, and adapt to changing circumstances. The Inventory Manager will actively participate in S&OP meetings and lead the Supply Review. (100 words)
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Planning preferred.
  • 2 years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3 years of experience in planning.

Job Details

Position Summary: 

The Inventory Manager is responsible for end-to-end stock level and shelf-life management over his/her finished products portfolio (main brand) in order to reach target service level at optimized costs. 

Primary Duties: 

  • In line with strategies defined in S&OP, computes SLA and stock parameters to be met within international/regional distribution centers warehouses for his/her brand; ensures that they are respected and triggers required reviews as function of changes of production, distribution strategies or of market conditions. In collaboration with subsidiaries and VMI, computes subsidiary SLA and/or stock settings and validate any change of it.
  • Based on sales forecasts/business pipeline, provides manufacturing sites and external suppliers of his/her perimeter with the netted unconstrained demand signal (input to plant site MPS and Brand S&OPs). Propose scenario based on simulations done with planning systems. Prioritizes and checks production plan consistency; arbitrates amongst the operational scenario whenever necessary. Leads the Supply Review meeting and participate actively to the S&OP of his/her brand (included dependent demand products).
  • Propose, validate in a collective approach in S&OP process and put in place distribution strategy. Is responsible for the air/sea ratio and ask for distribution adjustments when required. 
  • Anticipates medium-term scrap and back-order risks, drives related allocations/promotions and monitors firm STOs/ Purchase Orders in relation with Replenishment Planners in case of a High Risk of supply Crisis or in case of a Supply Crisis. Communicate scrap and back-order risks following standard procedures (Warning list, …).
  • During launches and phase outs and in collaboration with Life Cycle Management / Supply Chain Service referents team, plans for initial stock-build/final stock-draw and transfer tactics in order to reach target service level at optimized economics.
  • Maintains MRP views on International Distribution Centers in the Information System, and ensures data quality (min/max/Safety stock/lead times

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Planning preferred with 2 years of supply chain key brands experience in a manufacturing environment and 3 years of experience in planning.

Ability to make or influence decisions, Anticipation skills, Adaptability / Flexibility (Mastery)

Analytical and communication skills

Business acumen, financial risks understanding

Continuous improvement mindset, Understanding of manufacturing, logistic and transport key drivers and constraints
