We’re looking for a visually driven, detail-obsessed Principal Product Designer to lead design for our Partnerships team. In this strategic role, you’ll craft polished, brand-elevating experiences that strengthen Yahoo’s most important partner relationships.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—including Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and Content Strategists—as well as external partners. Your focus will be on delivering visually stunning, accessible experiences that reflect Yahoo’s design excellence and product values.
Your work will span multiple Yahoo products and services, with particular emphasis on marketing and partner-facing experiences—often the first touchpoints for users and partners. Strong visual design craft, including layout, typography, brand expression, and pixel-level precision, is essential.
You’ll partner directly with leadership to define and elevate the design direction of high-impact initiatives. We’re especially interested in designers who embrace AI as a collaborator and leverage emerging tools for ideation, prototyping, insight generation, or workflow optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end design of strategic, partner-facing experiences across Yahoo products.
Deliver intuitive, elegant solutions that reflect a deep understanding of user needs, partner goals, and brand expression.
Set a high bar for visual and interaction design quality; obsess over details, from typography and spacing to motion and micro interactions.
Advocate for focused, minimalist design that enhances clarity, usability, and impact.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, research, and brand to turn ideas into polished, user-centered solutions.
Prototype at high fidelity to explore ideas, test hypotheses, and communicate design intent early and often.
Work upstream with company leadership to shape design direction on strategically critical initiatives.
Partner with researchers to gather insights and iterate based on evidence and feedback.
Present design work with clarity, confidence, and a strong rationale grounded in user and business goals.
Guide feedback discussions and apply input in ways that strengthen the work without compromising vision.
Mentor other designers and foster a culture of creative excellence and continuous refinement.
Who You Are
A master of visual craft, with deep expertise in layout, typography, color, and brand application.
Experienced in designing across a range of surfaces—including marketing pages, partner portals, and product UIs.
Comfortable with ambiguity and confident in building new design directions from the ground up (0 → 1).
A skilled communicator who can present, defend, and iterate on design work at all levels of the organization.
Effective in cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to influence.
Familiar with motion design principles and how interaction enhances the user experience.
Curious about emerging tools and technologies, particularly AI’s role in design workflows.
Proficient with tools like Figma and Framer to explore, refine, and present design ideas.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience designing digital products, with a strong emphasis on visual design.Experience designing for both iOS and Android platforms, with a strong understanding of platform guidelines and best practices
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Visual Communication, HCI, or a related field.
A portfolio showcasing elegant, high-quality design across both product and marketing experiences.
Experience designing partner-facing or brand-integrated platforms is a strong plus.
Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and the ability to balance brand with usability.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting to executive stakeholders.
