Job Description

As an Associate General Counsel in the Marketing Practice Group, you will report to the Head of the practice group and work closely with the Global Legal team and business leaders. The role involves supporting the business in legal areas, including marketing, advertising, product development, and global regulatory matters. You will manage outside counsel, interpret legal advice, and collaborate with teams to achieve company-wide goals. This position is based in Malta.

Must have:

LL.D or LL.B degree and warrant to practice as an Advocate in Malta
Resident of Malta.
Litigation and regulatory experience in financial services or crypto industry.
Experience advising on crypto and blockchain legal issues.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
Ability to advise and build trust with business teams.
Ability to navigate through legal ambiguity.
Ability to work in a collaborative legal team.

Good to have:

Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and a global legal team.
Experience working in the financial services industry in the EU/EEA

About the Team:

The Global Legal team provides legal advice and guidance to OKX and its affiliated entities across all coverage areas and geographic locations, and supports business growth by working with all teams within the company to help them achieve their goals. OKX is based in San Jose, California, and has customers worldwide with offices in the United States (San Jose, San Francisco and New York City), Europe, Asia, and Australia. Our team has attorneys around the world, and handles legal matters in literally hundreds of countries across the globe.

About the Opportunity:

As an Associate General Counsel in the Marketing Practice Group , you will report to the Head of the practice group, and work closely with all members of the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the company. You will be working from our Malta office 5 days a week.

The right candidate will have a basic understanding of and enthusiastic belief in the cryptocurrency/digital asset space, relevant litigation and regulatory experience at a top law firm or in-house at a fast-paced, brand-name business, and possess strong academic credentials and excellent writing and analytical skills. The ideal candidate possesses experience working on matters in financial services, cryptocurrency/digital assets, financial services regulation and securities laws.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Supporting the business in a wide range of legal coverage areas, including but not limited to marketing and advertising, product promotion and development, global regulatory matters, token listings, contract negotiation;
Working with a global team of attorneys supporting the Company's global growth, local markets and marketing and advertising departments;
Managing outside counsel and interpreting legal advice to comport with the firm's business development plans and risk appetite;
When necessary, assisting the team's litigation and regulatory practice group on global regulatory matters and inquiries;
Collaborating with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals; and
Managing legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advising on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders.

What We Look For In You:

Must possess the academic degree of LL.D or LL.B, and have obtained the warrant necessary to practice as an Advocate pursuant to the laws of Malta
Resident of Malta
Litigation and regulatory experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in a financial services or crypto industry;
Experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues (or strong interest and knowledge in the field) and have a basic understanding about the relevant legal and regulatory landscape;
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment;
Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams;
Ability to navigate through a rapidly-changing legal landscape and deal with legal ambiguity;
Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and feel comfortable in a collaborative working environment;
