Job Summary

Job Description

As a Software Architect, you will design the Wind River Analytics and Observability product. Your responsibilities include designing the overall analytics and observability architecture, overseeing the integration of features, defining new features, scoping work, defining approaches with colleagues and upstream communities, defining the technical roadmap, researching new technologies, and working closely with customers and engineering teams. This role requires direct customer engagement and may require travel. You will also generate outward-facing whitepapers, blogs, presentations and talks at conferences and mentor junior developers.
Must have:
  • Senior technical/architect role experience with Cloud, Analytics and Observability.
  • Skills in cloud and micro-service architecture.
  • Experience evaluating open-source components and emerging technologies.
  • Product development experience in higher-level language like Python, Golang, Javascript.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Prometheus, Kafka, Grafana, Fluentd, OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with Agile development and DevOps.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

About The Role

 

As a Software Architect and utilizing your extensive experience around data and cloud analytics, data modeling, machine learning, observability, and Kubernetes, you will have the opportunity to architect the Wind River Analytics and Observability product to monitor critical infrastructure and workloads.

 

Who You Will Work With:

 

  • Product Line Managers, Engineering Project Managers, Development Managers, developers, and other architects to define and plan ongoing feature development.
  • Product Line Managers, Sales, and customer architects to determine software requirements.
  • Opportunity to engage with and contribute to various open-source communities.

 

 

Your Responsibilities:

 

  • Design of overall analytics and observability architecture and features for Wind River Analytics and Observability product.
  • Oversee integration of Analytics features, design of new features, scoping of work, defining approaches with colleagues and upstream communities.
  • Work with other architects to define technical roadmap for Wind River Analytics.
  • Research, design, and write specifications and methodologies in cooperation with other architects.
  • Investigate new technologies and techniques and research ongoing industry developments.
  • Work closely with Customers, Engineering Project Managers, Development Managers, and other Architects to define and plan ongoing feature development.
  • Direct customer engagement and travel may be required.
  • Generate outward facing whitepapers, blogs, presentations and talks at conferences.
  • Mentor more junior developers in technology, industry best practices, procedures, and concepts.

 

 

Core Competencies:

 

  • Significant experience in a senior technical / architect role with extensive experience in Cloud, Analytics and Observability software development.
  • Skills in cloud and micro-service architecture are necessary, coupled with real product deployments requiring high scale, extensibility, security, performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Experience evaluating open-source components and emerging technologies, considering functional and architectural qualities, then documenting & defending recommendations on best options (make/buy/partner decisions).
  • Product development experience in a higher-level language, e.g., Python, Golang, Javascript
  • Technical experience:
    • Kubernetes, Prometheus, Kafka, Grafana, Fluentd, OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch and Elastic Stack
    • Cloud Native observability and analysis technologies, including open standards
    • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and GCP
    • Advanced analytics features using statistical techniques and machine learning, e.g., Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Application Performance Monitoring (APM), or Predictive Maintenance
  • Experience working with and participating in open-source communities and working effectively in an open-source development environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile development and DevOps are a significant asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working in a distributed development environment with occasional business travel.
  • Proven ability to work across many technology areas, act proactively and own a problem.
  • Able to enthusiastically work, interact with and educate diverse groups such as sales, marketing, business development, partners, support, etc.
