We are seeking a proactive and strategic Principal Account Manager to join our team. As the highest level within our Account Management structure, the ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of both enterprise and payments industries. You are eager to help the world’s biggest brands grow while changing an industry. You’ll focus on delivering an outstanding customer experience, identifying new opportunities, and driving mutual success for Adyen and our customers.

As a Principal Account Manager at Adyen, you will manage our most significant and complex enterprise merchants by building deep relationships with VP to C-level executives and key stakeholders. You are a strategic thinker with profound payments expertise, passionate about leveraging your commercial acumen to drive global business growth. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to craft and implement tailored commercial strategies, secure new business, and close complex deals.

  • Strategic Partnership and Advisory:
    • Build and sustain deep, trust-based relationships with VP to C-level executives and key stakeholders, positioning yourself as a strategic partner and trusted advisor.
    • Exemplify Adyen’s highest standards in navigating diverse cultures and time zones with ease and sophistication.
  • Commercial Strategy Mastery:
    • Architect and implement bespoke commercial strategies that resonate with the unique aspirations of each enterprise customer.
    • Drive commercial negotiations with customers to secure new business and close high-stakes deals, ensuring alignment with Adyen’s long-term goals.
  • Payments Expertise:
    • Provide unparalleled payments expertise and strategic guidance, leveraging data-driven storytelling to build and solidify long-term partnerships.
    • Focus on delivering sustained mutual value, developing innovative payment solutions that drive merchant growth and operational efficiency.
  • Leadership Excellence:
    • Be a senior presence and source of knowledge on the team, leading by example and providing mentorship.
    • Offer advanced training and guidance to elevate the internal account team and set best practices.
  • Industry Leadership and Influence:
    • Represent Adyen at high-profile industry events, author thought leadership pieces, and position the company at the forefront of the payments industry.
    • Maintain a cutting-edge understanding of industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring Adyen provides forward-thinking solutions.
  • Strategic Project Management:
    • Oversee and prioritize complex global projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and maximizing impact.
    • Ensure project execution with precision, focusing on timely and within-scope delivery.
  • Customer Advocacy and Insight:
    • Advocate for customers within Adyen, influencing the product roadmap with strategic insights that reflect customer needs.
    • Provide feedback that shapes the evolution of Adyen’s offerings, ensuring continuous alignment with market demands.

Who You Are:

  • Enjoy engaging others, working collaboratively, and developing strong working relationships at all levels of management.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 15 years in a senior client-facing, commercial role, such as account management, consulting, partnerships, or payments industry experience from the merchant side.
  • At least 12 years of demonstrated expertise in both Enterprise and Payments sectors, with a proven record of leading high-stakes negotiations and managing global strategic accounts.

Additional Requirements:

  • You have full professional written and verbal proficiency in English.
  • Some domestic and international travel is required.
