Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager III, you will play a key role in developing and delivering impactful marketing technology solutions that drive Expedia’s success. You will collaborate with various teams, driving process enhancements and technical excellence to guarantee the smooth implementation of strategic initiatives. You will help Expedia maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of its search engine marketing (SEM) efforts by bridging technical capabilities with business objectives. You will advocate for agile software development methodologies, guide development teams, monitor progress, assess risks, and communicate project updates. Additionally, you will be involved in improving project management frameworks, overseeing technical projects, and fostering stakeholder relationships.
Must have:
  • 6+ years of Technical Program Management experience.
  • Bachelor’s in a technical field like computer science or IT.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale tech programs.
  • Expertise in risk and stakeholder management.
Good to have:
  • Experience in software engineering or system architecture.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Knowledge of SEM platforms like Google Ads or Microsoft Advertising.

Technical Program Manager III - Search Marketing

We create and deliver high performance SEM Landing Pages to fuel each Expedia Group brand's success. Since our travelers interact with us through our brands, we have a brand focus in our marketing, while leveraging the scale and efficiency we’ve built in functional expertise.

As a Technical Program Manager III, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-impact marketing technology solutions that drive Expedia’s success. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, driving process improvements and technical excellence to ensure seamless execution of strategic initiatives. By bridging technical capabilities with business goals, you will help Expedia maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of its search engine marketing (SEM) efforts.

In this role, you will:

  • Advocate for agile software development methodologies, applying best practices to enhance planning, requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.

  • Guide and support development teams through agile processes, ensuring project alignment and execution within set timelines.

  • Monitor progress, assess risks, and communicate updates on project schedules to stakeholders clearly and effectively.

  • Assist developers in resolving requirement roadblocks by connecting with the appropriate stakeholders (Product, Business etc.).

  • Apply industry best practices to enhance product development and overall performance.

  • Proactively manage risks to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Improve project management frameworks, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency.

  • Oversee technical projects in collaboration with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and marketers to ensure timely and effective solutions.

  • Identify areas for process improvement and drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency across teams.

  • Support all phases of the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, ensuring continuous optimization.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to implement innovative solutions and process improvements.

  • Foster strong stakeholder relationships by addressing concerns and aligning technical capabilities with business objectives.

  • Communicate technical and business concepts effectively to senior stakeholders.

  • Lead projects to successful completion while maintaining compliance with business and quality standards.

  • Work cross-functionally to develop, update, and communicate comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, staffing, risk assessment, and budget considerations across multiple different timezones.

Experience and qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, ideally in marketing technology, or search engine marketing.

  • Bachelor’s in technical field, computer science, computer engineering, IT or equivalent.

  • Prior experience in software engineering, system architecture and software development lifecycle is a huge advantage.

  • Familiarity with data analytics and performance tracking tools like Google Analytics, Looker, or Tableau is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Asana, Trello etc.

  • Proven track record of delivering 3+ large-scale, multi-functional tech programs.

  • Ability to work with diverse global teams across multiple different timezones.

  • Expertise in risk management, stakeholder management, and resource allocation.

  • Experience solving complex problems by using data for decision making.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.

  • Strong collaboration and leadership abilities, fostering alignment across cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, data-driven environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrates strong technical expertise and business acumen, effectively negotiating and influencing senior leadership to achieve business objectives.

  • Excels at instilling urgency while guiding and influencing both leaders and peers.

  • Balances strategic vision with hands-on execution, developing and managing large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Knowledge of SEM platforms such as Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and other paid search engines is an added advantage.
