We are seeking a Technical Account Manager (TAM) with 1 open position. This role requires experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment and technical proficiency, often functioning as a vCIO. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Microsoft enterprise platforms and general IT infrastructure, coupled with excellent communication and client-facing skills. Responsibilities include relationship building, client needs assessment, strategic IT planning, and solution recommendations. The role focuses on advisory and relationship-driven aspects rather than sales, aiming to build long-term client trust. The TAM will manage 20-30 client accounts once established and is expected to conduct quarterly consultations, provide technical recommendations, and create scopes of work. The position guarantees a first-year bonus to support relationship building.
Must have:

Location: Portland, OR
Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 base (depending on certifications and experience) + commission/bonus structure
Benefits: Full benefits
Type: Contract to Hire
Sponsorship Available: No – Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Most Important:

  • Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment is required

  • Must be technically proficient – this is a consultant-style role, often functioning as a vCIO

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft enterprise platforms and general IT infrastructure

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills – must be confident engaging with business leaders and end users alike

  • This is not a sales role – it’s a relationship-driven, advisory position focused on long-term client trust and alignment

  • Role includes relationship building, client needs assessment, strategic IT planning, and solution recommendations

  • First-year bonus is guaranteed to allow full focus on building meaningful customer relationships

  • Once established, will manage 20–30 client accounts

Qualifications:

  • IT certifications such as Net+, MCP, MCA, MCSE, Cloud, or Firewall certifications are a strong plus

  • Prior experience in roles such as IT Project Engineer, Helpdesk or IT Management, or IT Sales Consulting is beneficial

  • Must be able to translate technical concepts into business value for clients

  • Proven track record of managing technical relationships and aligning IT initiatives with business goals

  • Experience in creating strategic technology roadmaps and consulting on IT infrastructure decisions

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal engineers, project teams, and leadership

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quarterly consultations with clients at a high technical and strategic level

  • Provide technical recommendations during onboarding and long-term planning, including IT maturity assessments and roadmapping

  • Work closely with other TAMs and internal teams to support a shared client base

  • Create scopes of work for IT systems, hardware, and software implementations

  • Lead strategic planning sessions with client stakeholders to support retention and growth

  • Act as a trusted advisor to both clients and internal technical support teams

  • Guide IT engineers and staff who support broader field teams

  • Maintain strong, ongoing client relationships through regular check-ins, planning meetings, and needs assessments

  • Stay current on industry trends, compliance standards, and evolving technology solutions
