Job Description

The Product Manager will be responsible for all aspects of Product Life Cycle management, including market analysis, product definition and positioning. They will ensure products and/or solutions meet Adtran’s business goals. Responsibilities include defining market requirements, creating product presentations, coordinating marketing activities, supporting the sales force, working with support teams, and tracking industry trends. The Product Manager will collaborate with various teams to drive product success and meet customer needs, and also requires travel.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • 3+ years in Product Management or related roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to translate market/customer requirements.
  • Ability to manage programs, establish and modify priorities
  • Working knowledge and understanding of business fundamentals.
  • Ability to articulate the impact of products.
Good to have:
  • Technical knowledge of data communications preferred.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining product strategies.
  • Experience in driving successful product developments.

Product Manager

The Product Manager, under general supervision, will be responsible for all aspects of Product Life Cycle management including market analysis in coordination with marketing, product definition and positioning, and overall success of the product. This role will own all activities for the products assigned while ensuring the product and/or solutions meet Adtran’s business goals. The Product Manager will be responsible for telecommunication products enabling and supporting a wide range of access and aggregation networks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with Adtran operations in delivering high quality products that meets Adtran’s customers and overall market's timeline requirements.
  • Research and define market requirements, competitive positioning, product line positioning, and business strategy into specific solution requirements and roadmaps.
  • Create and maintain product presentations detailing supported applications, product capabilities, competitive strengths, and product line direction.
  • Work with other Product Managers to recognize synergies among Adtran products and/or services.
  • Work with marketing to coordinate and/or perform copywriting activities to assist in the development and production of sales/marketing collateral, marketing events, promotional materials, web, data sheets, etc.
  • Proactively support sales force through joint sales calls to key accounts, performing product demonstrations, and providing product presentations as appropriate.
  • Work closely with support teams to enable them to support new upcoming products and be a customer advocate.
  • Track industry trends, product segment growth, market share, and product revenue and margin.
  • Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Electronic Communications, or Software Engineering (or related field) required.
    • Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 3 or more years experience in the Product Management field or related leadership roles (Product Owner, Project Manager)
  • Experience with technology products and services related to the telecommunications field is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required.
  • Must have the ability to translate market/customer requirements into product features.
  • Experience pursuing creative solution strategies required
  • Must possess the ability to manage programs, establish and modify priorities, and define new instances of products and/or releases to achieve overall business objectives.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of business fundamentals including financial and cost accounting required
  • Must be able to understand the impact of products on our customer's business and be able to articulate by creating a business case with cost/benefit analysis.
  • This position requires willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% percent of the time to support Adtran’s sales objectives.
  • Must be able to work remotely while on business travel

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Technical knowledge of data communications, especially in areas of routing, Ethernet switches, network access technologies and Ethernet-based technology preferred.
  • Previous experience in all aspects to developing and maintaining product strategies to meet organizational objectives preferred.
  • Experience demonstrating previous success in driving product developments and successful positioning of technologies within both domestic and international carriers preferred
