The Director of Business Development will lead strategy and growth initiatives for the Electronics Solutions division globally. This includes developing and executing strategic plans to penetrate new applications and gain market share, while driving product innovation. The role involves leading a global team, collaborating with commercial teams, and positioning the division for profitable growth. Responsibilities include utilizing the Nordson Business System, identifying growth opportunities, driving competitive analysis, leading market development, supporting regional sales, managing product roadmaps, optimizing lead generation, and developing talent. The role requires strategic and critical thinking abilities, strong analytical skills, and financial acumen. The role requires strong decision-making skills in response to high-pressure situations and a results-oriented approach.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a marketing or commercial leadership role.
  • Experience leading global teams outside of North America.
Good to have:
  • Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Leadership experience throughout Asia market is preferred.

Job Summary

The Director of Business Development will successfully lead strategy and growth initiatives for our growth segments for the Electronics Solutions division globally.  This includes leading the development and execution of strategic deployment plans with a specific focus on identifying and penetrating new applications, accelerating plans to gain market share, while driving our product innovation to ensure Nordson EPS sustains a leadership position in the most attractive market growth segments.  The Director of Business Development will lead a global team, with strategic support in each region, partnering with the commercial teams to deepen our penetration of our Top customers and strategic partner accounts.   As part of the leadership team working on strategic growth and operating plan execution, the Director of Business Development will work to position the division, its capabilities and talent, to deliver profitable growth for many years to come.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the Nordson Business System, NBS Next, to ensure the division focuses on the most attractive growth segments.
  • Identifies growth opportunities by segmenting our business division to identify strategic focus segments; leverages the serviceable obtainable market (SoM) to determine the market potential for each segment.
  • Develops and deploys strategy-to-action to deliver long term profitable growth for each of our strategic focus segments.
  • Drives ongoing competitive analysis, develops strategy to take share in the most attractive applications in each region.
  • Leads team to open doors in support of market development.  Identify the potential Top customers and vet out for fit.  Work with commercial teams to seamlessly handoff shortening the time to revenue.
  • Supports our regional sales leaders to develop and execute strong commercial plans focusing on meeting and exceeding our growth and profitability targets for each region.
  • Leads our product line management teams in the development and execution of robust product roadmaps and new product development pipeline ideas.
  • Provides guidance to our marketing communication team to optimize lead generation and strengthen our brand awareness globally.
  • Demonstrates strong talent management ability focusing on hiring, coaching, directing, and developing employees while increasing engagement.
  • Participates in and contributes to the strategic and operating plan processes, active divisional leader contributing to the overall running of the business.
  • Participates in the review of product designs and specifications to ensure that new products are designed to the market and customer requirements.  Supports overall product development efforts.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field is required.  Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 17-20 years of professional experience, specifically 7-10 years in a marketing or commercial leadership role is required.
  • Experience leading global teams outside of North America is required.  Leadership experience throughout Asia market is preferred.
  • Experience in strategic marketing, strategic planning and analysis, including relevant professional experience in having led products through full life cycle.

Compensation

Salary range for this position is: $217,000 to $252,000 annually

The base pay range for this job level is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, business considerations, and local market conditions, as well as candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, and skills
