The ideal candidate possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, retail merchandising experience, and knowledge of visual merchandising principles. Manual skills in doll styling are preferred. The ability to lift 50 pounds and work flexible hours is required.

The Team:  The Assistant Operations/Merchandising Manager is part of the American Girl Dallas retail store management team.

Job Description

The Opportunity: The American Girl Dallas retail store is seeking a passionate Assistant Operations/Merchandising Manager who can lead and execute retail visual merchandising and operational functions in a friendly and fast-paced environment.  This position reports to the Assistant Store Manager.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store, including sales floor and store supply replenishment, inventory control, shipping & receiving, and managing departmental budget.
    • Oversee the merchandising staff to ensure the sales floor, displays, and signage meet company standards; partner with Corporate Visual to plan and execute all launches, promotions and initiatives; manage visual budgets.
    • Maintain working relationships and provide support for internal and external store teams and outside vendors.
    • Maximize professional growth of the operations and merchandising staff through coaching and support.
    • Ensure both departments remain productive and efficient through utilization of Best Practices.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong written, verbal and management experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • 1 - 2 years of successful work experience in retail merchandising, retail, or related field which includes expertise in customer service, preferred.
  • Knowledge of general visual principles required with a strong emphasis on construction and detail.
  • Manual skills in doll styling, straight blade cutting, and minor assembly, preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and quickly within a team setting.
  • Ability to lift and push a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
