As an Associate Account Executive, you will be the front-line of prospect outreach at Octopus with a goal to generate qualified opportunities for our Sales Team. You will be responsible for developing and owning the “top-of-funnel” through cold calling, cold emailing, social channels, and leads. You will be expected to learn the Octopus product in order to quickly and effectively communicate the value proposition, respond to objections, and speak to the industry trends. This role is pivotal to our team's aggressive growth targets, so a growth mindset, resilience, adaptability, and commitment to seeking creative solutions for individual prospects will be crucial in this role.
Must have:
  • Reside in the United States within Pacific or Mountain Standard Timezones.
  • 1-2 years of business development experience.
  • Experience with a technology or SaaS product.
  • Ability to anticipate needs by studying services.
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations.
  • Organized and possess strong time management skills.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication.
  • Self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior lead generation and/or sales prospecting experience is a must.
  • Experience using sales development platforms.

As an Associate Account, you are the front-line of prospect outreach at Octopus with a goal to generate qualified opportunities for our Sales Team. You will be responsible for developing and owning the “top-of-funnel” through cold calling, cold emailing, social channels, and leads. You will be expected to learn the Octopus product in order to quickly and effectively communicate the value proposition, respond to objections, and speak to the industry trends. A typical day might look like:

    • Establish active communication and engagement with prospects to create new leads and sales openings.
    • Qualify prospects based on their current business challenges and needs using targeted and relevant questions.
    • Clearly communicating Octopus’ value propositions to prospects and learning about their needs to see if there’s a good fit.
    • Be the first point of contact for new business prospects and determine the next steps for each prospect moving forward.
    • Collaborate with sales teams by bringing innovative lead generation ideas to each meeting.
    • Reaching out to leads captured and nurtured by the Marketing Team to book demonstrations.
    • Provide feedback to the Marketing Team regarding the quality of marketing-sourced leads.
    • Provide support to the New Business team as needed.

You'll be a great for this role if you:

    • Reside in and have working rights in the United States within Pacific or Mountain Standard Timezones.
    • Have 1-2 years of business development experience delivering quality leads to highly motivated sales teams.
    • Can demonstrate previous experience with a technology or SaaS product. Devops background a plus.
    • Ability to anticipate needs by studying services and conducting market research to identify new leads.
    • Ability to deliver engaging presentations.
    • Monitor and attend meetings with prospects while handling the introductions and follow-up with the Account Executives.
    • Able to think strategically and tactically. Able to maintain a positive attitude in the face of criticism, rejection, or failure.
    • Ability to speak with C-suites, Engineering Managers, and Procurement teams at an early stage and ask intelligent questions.
    • Organized and possess strong time management skills.
    • Excellent written & verbal communication.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.A sense of urgency and persistence.
    • Prior lead generation and/or sales prospecting experience is a must.
    • Have experience using sales development platforms to execute the outreach process consisting of phone, email, and social touches.
    • Ability to work solo as well as being a productive team member, making outbound calls every day.
    • Working knowledge of the enterprise software market or the ability to learn new software quickly.
    • Strive to continuously improve your sales development process and demonstrate a willingness to learn and implement best practices.

Octopus has an internally open and transparent system for compensation. Any Octonaut can view the compensation for any role at any level. This ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same. 
The compensation for this role is:
Level 1:
Maturing- $55,000 USD annual + commission + stock options (OTE $75,000)
Performing- $75,000 USD annual + commission + stock options (OTE $95,000)

Interview Process
Below is the interview process you can expect for this role. We know interviewing can seem daunting, but rest assured we designed our interview process to move quickly while still getting you all the information you need.

👋🏼Initial chat [30 min]
Talent acquisition screen: Meet with your Talent Acquisition team and get a feel for what it would be like to be an Octonaut!

🧑‍💻Hiring manager chat [45–60 min]
Hiring manager chat: Designated time to chat with the hiring manager. This is a great opportunity to get to know each other. You should expect the hiring manager to ask questions about your professional background and goals. We welcome any questions you may have for us!

🎉Panel interview [60–90 min]
Final round chat: In this final round call, you meet cross-functional team members. You can expect a mix of leaders and individual contributors to join the chat. By the end of this call, you should have a great idea of what it’s like to work at Octopus. We should also have a great idea of what it would be like to have you on the team! We’ll ask any final questions and encourage you to do the same.
