KGTV, the ABC affiliate in San Diego, California, owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, is seeking a dynamic Producer / Digital Content Producer to join the team. In this dual-role position, you will be responsible for developing and organizing engaging newscasts while crafting strong written content tailored for multiple platforms. Collaborating closely with reporters, anchors, and news managers, you will identify content needs and enhance our stories with graphics, videos, and station branding, executing time-sensitive decisions effectively. As a passionate local news enthusiast, you will showcase your storytelling capabilities, all while maintaining a meticulous attention to detail and upholding journalistic ethics. You will also be engaged in desktop editing and posting content to the station's website and other platforms, ensuring that the audience remains informed and connected.   • Oversee live broadcast and up-to-the-minute editorial decisions.
  • Perform desktop editing.
  • Work as a digital content producer posting news, stories, and information to the station's websites and social media accounts.
  • Use Final Cut to edit video and create graphics.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Avid local news consumer: knows daily news, events, trends, and happenings on a local level
  • Proficient in Final Cut for video editing and creating graphics
  • Strong vision and ability to advance stories
  • Excellent interpersonal communicator
  • Extraordinarily passionate about writing; courageous and creative storyteller with attention to even tiny details - choosing the perfect words, grammar, spelling
  • Highly organized
  • Highly adaptable - fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws, and strong editorial judgement
  • Able to use web analytics
  • Proficient with newsroom computer systems, MS Office a plus
  • Flexible work hours may be required, including holidays, weekends, and evenings

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Hourly: $29.90 - 32.22

Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in California.
